Wendy Read appointed as new Australian Bushrangers Coach

wendyreadprofileWendy Read has officially been appointed as new Australian Bushrangers Coach and Assistant Coach for WOC 2010.

Wendy did a fantastic job as Media reporter at WOC 2009 and the team really enjoyed her input. She has also been a keen member and manager of the Queensland Cyclones for many years.

Orienteering Australia would like to thank David Shepherd for the work he has done with the Bushrangers over the last few years.

Wendy’s Bio

Profession:  Teacher –  Head of Curriculum

Level 2 Coach – Orienteering. A keen participant in orienteering  for almost 20 years and is a member of Ugly Gully Orienteers. Since 1996 has been involved in orienteering coaching, management and administration at junior and senior elite level.

  • School Sport Australia National Secretary – Orienteering  (1999 – 2005)
  • Australian Schools Orienteering Team Manager (2005)
  • Queensland Cyclones Orienteering Team Manager (2006 -2010)

First represented Queensland Cyclones in 2003. Selected to represent  Australia in ANZ Challenges in 2002, 2003 & 2006 (W35), and  also as a member of the Bushrangers Team in 2004. Competed in numerous major overseas events – from the delights of Tornio above the Arctic Circle in Finland, to the horrors of Naseby in New Zealand.

Other interests include road cycling, adventure racing and rogaining, and playing the piano or guitar when the body’s had enough.
