EXPRESSION OF INTEREST | PROVISION OF UPDATED COACHING SYLLABUS – LEVELS 1, 2, and 3

Paul Prudhoe2020 Archive, Administration, Coaching, High Performance

Orienteering Australia (OA) is seeking EOI submissions, from suitably qualified people or organisations, to update its three levels of coaching syllabus for use by State Orienteering Associations (SSOs) & Territory Orienteering Associations.

Suppliers may wish to respond to one or more of the services sought by the EOI. It is possible that one supplier may wish to provide all services, or wish to team with another supplier providing all services between them. Depending on which people or  organisations respond to the REOI, Orienteering Australia is willing to consider a collaboration between individuals or organisations.

Orienteering Australia Inc. (OA) is the peak body for the governance and delivery of the sport of orienteering in Australia. OA has 7 affiliated State and Territory Associations who work collaboratively on a “whole of sport” approach to the development of the sport.

Key stakeholder groups include Orienteering Australia, OA High-Performance Management Group, OA, State and club coaches, National and State administrators, and volunteers.

Until 2016, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) approved each level of the Coach Syllabus under the National Coach Accreditation System (NCAS). The need to comply with NCAS requirements was removed in conjunction with the demise of the Sports Accreditation Online (SAO) database in the same year.

The current coaching syllabus for Levels 1-2 was last reviewed in 2017, and for Level 3 in 2010, but the style and accessibility of the material was not improved at those times. It has also been observed that the syllabus of all levels is focused exclusively on orienteering technique, when there are now several other critical components of the FTEM Pathway that need to be included.

With the accreditation database migrating to RevolutioniseSPORT over 2018 to 2019, it leaves the coaching syllabi as the remaining outstanding piece of work to migrate.
