It is with much regret that the OA MTBO committee, in consultation with the event organisers, Newcastle Orienteering Club, have cancelled the 2020 Australian MTBO Championships, scheduled for September 19-20.      The current Covid-19 crisis in Victoria and smaller outbreaks in other states, resulting in travel restrictions, makes true national representation at the event impossible.

The 2020 National MTBO Series is also not viable, as 2 of the 4 events (the Australian & Victorian Champs) are now both cancelled.

Consequently the 2021 Australian MTBO Champs have now been re-allocated to Newcastle, again in September, so the areas, maps and courses planned for this year can be best utilised.

Good news, for those that can travel, is that Newcastle will run two MTBO events on the weekend of 19-20 Sept 2020, on existing maps.   These will be NSW Champs, if riders from all of NSW are able to attend – confirmation & more details later.   The Newcastle club has been very active in recent weeks, attracting large numbers to both foot & mtbo events.

Other major events that are currently going ahead include:

30 August           WA Long Champs

12-13 Sept          Queensland Champs, Sunshine Coast, 3 events

19-20 Sept          NSW Champs / 2 day event

11 OCT                WA Middle Champs

17 OCT                SA Champs, Mt Crawford, long

24-25 OCT           ACT Champs, 3 events – Sprint, Middle, Long
