Orienteering World Cup Round 1

The Orienteering World Cup Round 1 is being held this weekend (25-26 May) in Olten, Switzerland. Australia will be racing against 31 other participation nations.

Australia will have a team of 4 men and 1 woman: Henry McNulty, Ewan Shingler, Callum White, Andrew Kerr and Serena Doyle.

Scoring

The Individual World Cup consists of seven competition. The total score is the sum of the scores of each competition.

The teams World Cup is defined as the sum of all scores from both relay and individual competitions according to the following principle:

  • Individual races: The sum of the four best runners per team (nation), both Men and Women
  • Relay: The individual scoring * 10
  • Sprint Relay: The individual scoring * 20

Races

The 2024 season begins with the youngest discipline, a Knock-Out Sprint in Olten, Switzerland. Fast decisions may be the winning concept for the events.

  • Friday: Knockout sprint qualification
  • Saturday: Knockout quarters, semis and final 
  • Sunday: Individual sprint
