Project Manager: Beginner Instruction for Everyone Project

A National Approach to Instruction at Events for Beginner Orienteers

Develop a standardised approach to providing beginner instruction at beginner events, as well as guidelines on how to best design beginner events or event series, and for those beginners who attend our club events.

Working group: Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)​

Be part of establishing the first Reconciliation Action Plan for Orienteering Australia. We are working with The Nahri Institute to develop a plan to help uplift those whose ancestors travelled in the bush before us.

Commitment: 1 hour reading or writing per week. 1 online meeting every 2-3 weeks.

Working Groups: various Participation Plan initiatives

We invite you to take part in transformative initiatives aimed at increasing participation in orienteering nationwide. Our Participation Plan is brimming with innovative ideas to propel the sport forward, and now is the perfect time to get involved by joining one of our groups.

If you have an interest or knowledge in one of our current priority areas, we encourage you to express your interest through this Google form.

Current priority areas and opportunities to be involved include:

  • Beginner Instruction for Everyone’ project
    • Roles: Project manager and steering committee
  • Engagement with schools
    • Roles: Brainstorming group (Schools Officers will be involved)
  • Volunteer Action Plan
    • Roles: Working group (with assistance from ASC)
  • 3 short eLearning modules
    • Introduction to Course Setting, Introduction to Mapping, PurplePen/Condes
    • Roles: Working group for each module
  • Market research
    • Roles: Advisory group
  • Participation data reporting and analysis
    • Roles: Project manager and working group

These initiatives offer a range of opportunities, from paid project manager roles to volunteer roles requiring approximately 1 hour per week. Your involvement will play a crucial role in shaping the future of orienteering participation.
