
Fantastic results in the very first event of European Youth Orienteering Championships- the long LONG champs in Brno, Babice nad Svitavou showed the Australian Youth Team!
Hayden DENT – 18th place (M16), Euan BEST – 19th place (M18) and Liana STUBBS – 22nd place (W18).

It turned out to be a very challenging, steep and physically extremely demanding terrain, where 2 key long legs decided the outcome of the race.
Some hills were so steep that, as Hayden commented: “I did power walk, it was not possible to run that hill”. Route choice took significant time, some people reported that they stayed for some prolong time trying to figure out the best route and to avoid as much as possible the killing climbs, but flat options were not there.
The day ended with a vibrant Open Ceremony and an exciting Friendship Party where Orienteers from 35 countries celebrated the sport and friendships.
