Mountain Bike Orienteering

The fun and excitement of a mountain bike ride with map reading, route choice and the thrill of competition.

What is It About

Mountain bike orienteering (MTB orienteering or MTBO) is the outdoor sport that combines mountain biking with map reading and navigation skills. Riders use a map to navigate through a series of control points at locations. Events are held in public forest reserves, on private properties and urban sites like universities, anywhere with a complex track network. Competitors must use their navigation skills to determine the best route to reach control point and achieve the lowest overall time.
