How quickly a week can pass by and JWOC 2025 is done and dusted with the conclusion of the relay competition and then the ever important JWOC banquet with the rest of the teams.
Our two women’s and two men’s relay teams gave it their all in the final race. Our women’s first team had the same lineup as last year and was just 7 seconds off equalising their awesome 12th position from JWOC 2024. Well done to all 4 of our teams.
What a superb week it has been. We have had a combination of experienced JWOC runners and new athletes coming into the team for the first time. What a way to start an international orienteering career training and competing alongside the best of the best on the world stage. That stage has also a tinge of green and gold glowing stronger for each year that passes. Our Sprint Relay team made it onto the podium for the first ever time and our team captain Nea Shingler in her final JWOC took an incredible 7th spot in the individual sprint competition. A superb team effort made possible by our fantastic coaching team who dedicate an enormous amount of their free time to supporting and coaching our juniors.
In the team competition which is a measure of the results over the whole week Czechia took the honours followed by Switzerland and Sweden this year. We placed 13th best nation at JWOC which is a great result and on a par with our 13th position at JWOC 2024 and JWOC 2019.
