From May 17 to 25, Australia will join the global orienteering community in celebrating World Orienteering Week (WOW) with a series of events across the country designed to showcase the sport and encourage participation.

Clubs in every state and territory are hosting activities ranging from beginner-friendly courses to competitive events for seasoned orienteers. With a strong focus on community engagement, many clubs are offering free or low-cost entry to attract newcomers and promote healthy, outdoor activity.

“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to try orienteering in a fun and welcoming environment,” explains Arpad Kocsik, the General Manager of Orienteering Australia. “Whether you’re exploring your local park or tackling a forest course, WOW highlights how accessible and enjoyable orienteering can be.”

Participants are encouraged to search for an event on the World Orienteering Week global map or Eventor Australia.

With almost 60 events expected to take place in Australia, WOW 2025 is shaping up to be one of Australia’s most inclusive and engaging orienteering celebrations yet.
