New Videos to Showcase Orienteering

New Orienteering Videos, On YouTube Now!

Orienteering Australia (OA) is thrilled to announce the release of two brand-new videos celebrating the sport of orienteering. The videos have just been released on the OA YouTube channel.

It is a great way to get excited for World Orienteering Week, starting this Saturday!

Created to showcase the excitement, inclusivity, and adventure of orienteering, the videos aim to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the sport and the many ways to get involved. Whether through local club events or national competitions, there’s an orienteering experience for everyone.

The project has been a year in the making, led by Justin from the Newcastle Orienteering Club. It began with a successful application for funding through OA’s Participation Funding Distribution Program—an initiative supported by the Australian Sports Commission to grow participation in the sport.

Filming took place during the 2024 Australian Orienteering Championships as well as various local events in Newcastle. The final result includes a short 1-minute highlight reel and a more in-depth 3-minute feature video, which includes interviews with orienteers sharing their stories and passion for the sport.

“We’re incredibly grateful to those who took the time to be interviewed,” explained Daniel Stott, OA’s Participation Manager. “Their insights and enthusiasm will help inspire more people to give orienteering a go.”

Orienteering Australia hopes the videos will serve as powerful tools to promote the sport nationwide for years to come.

Be sure to visit the Orienteering Australia YouTube channel to watch the videos.
