Thank You, Brodie Nankervis – Recognising his Contribution to Orienteering Australia

Orienteering Australia extends its sincere thanks to Brodie Nankervis, who is stepping down from his staff roles after several years of dedicated service to our organisation and community. Brodie has made an exceptional contribution across coaching, high-performance support and national programme development, and his impact will be felt for many years to come.

Brodie has been a central figure in Australia’s orienteering environment, bringing professionalism, passion and deep technical knowledge to the Manager, Coaching and Athlete Development role. Whether coaching emerging juniors, supporting senior teams on the international stage, or strengthening our talent pathways at home, he has been instrumental in helping Australian orienteers grow, compete and excel.

Stand out achievements during his 5 years working within OA:

  • Major redevelopment of the Coaching Framework
  • Establishment of a formal Participation portfolio within OA
  • Created the first Participation Plan for orienteering
  • Established the Orienteering Learning Centre

His leadership and calm, thoughtful approach have earned him enormous respect from athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff alike. Brodie has consistently gone above and beyond—planning training camps, guiding athletes through major competitions, and contributing strategic insight into the development of our participation and performance systems.

Beyond his formal responsibilities, Brodie has been a role model: a committed athlete, a generous mentor, and a valued member of the national orienteering community.

While Brodie is stepping back from his staff positions, we know he will continue to play an important role in orienteering, both as an athlete and a leader within the sport. He will also work as an OA contractor to further develop the Orienteering Learning Centre.

Orienteering Australia thanks him wholeheartedly for his dedication and contributions, and we wish him every success in his next chapter.

Thank you, Brodie. Your work has made a lasting difference.
