2024 Orienteering Australia Elite Rankings

The Orienteering Australia Elite Ranking Scheme provides athletes, coaches, administrators, fans, and media with an objective ranking list of Australian elite and junior elite foot orienteers.

The scheme determines an orienteer’s ranking based on their best five results over a rolling 12-month period. Points for each race are allocated based on performance, the spread of times, and the strength of the field, operating alongside and using the same algorithms as the IOF World Ranking Scheme. This allows for ranking of athletes who compete domestically at National Orienteering League and State Championship events, together with elites who are based overseas or travel to World Ranking Events.

The full Orienteering Australia Elite Rankings can be accessed online at https://rankings.orienteering.asn.au

In 2024, our top ranked orienteers in the senior elite classes were Henry McNulty (WA) and Nea Shingler (NSW). In addition to her senior elite race performance, Nea also qualified with a number of junior elite competitions to lead the Junior Elite Women’s ranking list. Sam Woolford (NSW) was top ranked in Junior Elite Men.

The scheme was first endorsed by Orienteering Australia in 1998, and a full history of rankings and race results in every year since is available online from the home page.
