Orienteering Australia is running a national research project to understand what can be done to help more people discover and enjoy our sport.
We want to hear from everyone – whether you’ve:
Never tried orienteering before
Tried it once or twice
Used to participate
Or are currently involved
The survey only takes 3–5 minutes to complete. By taking part, you’ll go into the draw to win one of:
4 x special prizes: adventure shoes, compass, SPORTident Air, orienteering top
50 x $50 Outdoor Adventure Shop vouchers
The prize draw closes on 31 October 2025 – don’t miss out!
PLUS: Be named as a ‘referrer’ by 5 new people and you get a $20 voucher. Get sharing!
The insights gathered will directly influence the way Orienteering Australia markets to and caters for people new to orienteering. It will inform the Discover Orienteering and Learn to Orienteer programs. It will also be part of what shapes Orienteering Australia’s Participation Plan 2026–2029.
Your input will help us know how to:
Make entry into orienteering easier
Support new orienteers
Advertise orienteering
We’re encouraging:
All orienteers to complete the survey
Parents to complete it with their children
Everyone to share the survey with friends, family, and colleagues
This is a great chance to start a conversation about orienteering and invite someone new along to an event. Remember, if you are named as a ‘referrer’ by 5 new people, you get a $20 voucher. Get sharing!
The Orienteering Research Survey has been designed so your feedback remains anonymous. After submitting the survey, a new link will be presented to you for entering the prize draw and collecting contact information. You will have the chance to choose whether your contact information is deleted 30 days after the prize draw or for Orienteering Australia to contact you with information about orienteering opportunities. This research project is made possible thanks to the support of the Australian Sports Commission through a Play Well grant.
